Dry-type Transformers

Acutran has manufactured and repaired custom transformers and reactors of up to 3 MVA and 25 kV for over 30 years. We specialize in dry-type designs, but also manufacture custom-designed, oil-filled potential transformers. Our customers know Acutran for our flexible manufacturing operations which means we can meet their needs for prompt delivery and special features.

Although Acutran is a valued supplier to many OEMs for their quantity orders, we also produce unique, one-of-a-kind custom transformers. We'll provide technical and engineering support when your application requires a custom transformer. And, because we pride ourselves on customer service, you will always find a live person available to answer your questions on the phone during normal business hours.

Frequently, we receive inquiries about rewinds of damaged transformers, or the remanufacture of old, out-of-production, imported transformers and reactors. This is our business. We rewind, refurbish and remanufacture transformers and reactors on a regular basis.

We have developed an extensive library of designs for neutral grounding transformers and systems. Applications include three-phase zig-zag grounding transformers for utilities, mines, and other power systems. These transformers are also used in the increasingly important area of high-resistance grounding. We also manufactures single-phase neutral-grounding transformers and systems for utilities.

Acutran also specializes in medium and high-voltage transformers, as well as ferroresonant, constant-voltage transformers (CVT) and power conditioners. Single-phase CVTs up to 35 kVA and three-phase CVTs up to 50 kVA are available.

We are proud to be the sole-source supplier of a number of custom transformers and reactors used on the U.S. Navy's nuclear-powered aircraft carriers.

Acutran's 30,000 square foot facility is located about 30 miles north of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Because of our location, we can ship products to the major manufacturing centers in the eastern United States in one to three days.
