Acutran has manufactured and repaired transformers and reactors up to 2500 KVA and 25 KV for over twenty-five years. We specialize in dry-type designs. We also manufacture custom-designed, oil-filled potential transformers. Our flexible manufacturing allows us to meet our customers' needs for prompt delivery and special features.Although Acutran supplies many original equipment Manufacturers with repeat and blanket orders, ACUTRAN also has the capability to make special and one-of-a-kind transformers. We are able to provide technical and engineering support to our customers. During business hours, a real person is always available on the phone, to permit customers to get prompt answers to their questions.
Many inquiries are about rewinds of damaged transformers and remanufacture of old, out-of-production, and imported transformers and reactors. Acutran can rewind, refurbish and remanufacture such transformers and reactors on a regular basis.
Acutran has developed extensive designs for neutral grounding transformers and systems. Applications include three-phase zig-zag grounding transformers for utilities, mines, and other power systems. These transformers are also used in the increasingly important area of high-resistance grounding. Acutran also manufactures single-phase neutral-grounding transformers and systems for utilities.
Medium and high-voltage transformers, as well as ferroresonant, constant-voltage transformers (CVT's) and power conditioners are also areas of specialization. Acutran manufactures single-phase CVT's up to 35 KVA and three-phase CVT's up to 50 KVA.
Acutran is proud to be the sole-source supplier of a number of transformers and reactors used by the United States Navy on nuclear-powered aircraft carriers.
Acutran's 30,000 square foot facility is located about thirty miles north of Pittsburgh Pennsylvania. Located near the intersection of Interstate Highways 79 and 76, Acutran can ship products to the major manufacturing centers in the eastern United States in one to three days.
